AboutMoney (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is a privacy-first expense tracking application developed by Burner Global System Pvt. Ltd.

This Privacy Policy explains how AboutMoney collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the app.

By using AboutMoney, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

AboutMoney only collects limited personal information required to create and manage your account.

We collect:

• Name
• Email address

We do not collect:

• Bank account credentials
• SMS data
• Contacts
• Location data

Expense Data and Processing

AboutMoney allows users to add expenses by typing them, sharing screenshots or receipt images, and uploading PDF bank or wallet statements.

Uploaded files and text are transmitted to our backend, processed temporarily to extract expense information, and discarded after the extraction completes.

Your uploaded screenshots, receipts, and statements are not permanently stored on our servers.

Privacy First Approach

AboutMoney is designed with privacy in mind.

• No bank linking required
• No SMS reading permissions
• No selling of user data
• No unnecessary personal data collection

Your financial information remains under your control.

Third-Party AI Services

To extract transaction details from your inputs and to generate spending insights, AboutMoney sends the relevant data to third-party AI providers. The first time you use an AI-powered feature in the app, AboutMoney will ask for your explicit permission before sending any data.

Who the data is sent to:

• Google Gemini (Google LLC) — primary provider for extraction and insights
• OpenAI (OpenAI, L.L.C.) — fallback provider used when Gemini is unavailable

What data is sent:

• For typed expense entries: the text you typed
• For screenshot or receipt imports: the image you selected
• For PDF statement imports: the text extracted from the PDF (the PDF itself is parsed on our server, not uploaded to the AI provider)
• For spending insights: an anonymised list of your transactions (merchant name, category, amount, date) for the selected month

Purpose: The AI provider returns structured transaction fields (amount, merchant, category, date) or insight suggestions. The data is sent over an encrypted connection, is not used by the providers to train their models under our enterprise/API terms, and is retained by them only for the period required by their abuse-monitoring policies before deletion.

If you decline AI processing, you can still use AboutMoney to add and track expenses manually; only the AI-powered import and insight features are disabled.

Notifications

AboutMoney may send notifications related to:

• Expense reminders
• Payment reminders
• Important account activity
• App updates

You can disable notifications anytime from your device settings.

Data Security

We use reasonable security measures and encrypted connections to help protect your information.

However, no online platform can guarantee complete security.

Account Deletion

You can delete your account directly from within the AboutMoney app at any time.

Deleting your account will permanently remove your associated account information from our systems within a reasonable period, unless retention is required for legal or security purposes.

Children’s Privacy

AboutMoney is not specifically directed toward children under the age of 13.

If we become aware that personal information from children has been collected improperly, we will take steps to remove it.

International Users

AboutMoney may be used globally. By using the app, you understand that information may be processed in countries where our service providers operate.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

Any updates will be reflected by updating the “Last Updated” date above.
